Press This TinyMCE exhibits odd linking behavior.

Description

In the Press This bookmarklet the TinyMCE editor area will not "release" the link from any more text that you begin typing into the editor area. This doesn't seem to be the case in Safari, but appears in most other browsers.

  • component changed from Administration to TinyMCE.

Seems the same as on the write page. If you click inside a linked text and type, the new text is added to the linked one. If you want to remove it from the linked text, select it and click "unlink".

I'll be changing the TinyMCE setup there to use the js compressor in the next couple of days, will test it again then.

  • priority changed from high to low.
  • severity changed from major to minor.

This is a limitation in Firefox 2. Doesn't happen in other browsers and hopefully will be fixed with Firefox 3.

The workaround is to continue typing, then select the text that shouldn't be linked and click "unlink". It also works properly if a new paragraph is created.

Leaving the ticket open for now, so we can re-test it when Firefox 3 comes out.

I seemed to have this under control in the latest revision... fixed by leaving an extra space between end of link and closing paragraph tag.

Seems like this is a Firefox bug.
