Description

When you select "Show at Most X DAYS" from the Options --> Reading view the Previous/Next page navigation function at the bottom of the page breaks. Even when there are no more previous pages, the "Previous" link still appears and takes you to a page not found (404) when clicked on.

  • Version changed from 2.0 to 2.0.1

In WP 2.0.1 the view at most X days option causes the previous and next post navigation links to disappear or function erratically.

  • Milestone set to 2.5

This is going to take some significant rewriting to get working, I think. The problems still exist in 2.0.3, and aren't limited to just Previous Page/Next Page links being broken. If you select days, then category pages will display every post ever written in the category.

The fixes which come to mind right now would wind up being fairly database-heavy, so I'm going to have to think about this one for a while longer. (I also use Days.)

Actually, the option to choose days has been removed in WP 2.1 altogether, which quite presumably is not a fix to this issue but making it quite a bit worse ;)

  • Keywords hunt-irrelivent added

I cannot reproduce this problem in 2.3.1.

  • Keywords hunt-irrelevant added; hunt-irrelivent removed

Can't reproduce on trunk either. Either needs reporter feedback, since I can't find the option listed anywhere and previous/next works as expected with default theme.

You may not have read my comment 4: This problem was duct-tape fixed by removing the option in question altogether. Yet it was very useful to show the last X days worth of posts because that covered days where you blogged a lot much better than the default of a static number of posts per page.

Agreed. That would be quite sexy, if it was part of WordPress. However, I would need to find which changeset it was removed in and see about reapplying the option. Or just trying to add the option manually and implementing the feature.

However, removing a feature is pretty much the same as fixing it. Probably have to create a new ticket in order to add the feature back.

I agree: Do you want to open a new bug then? A new implementation, if done correctly, won't suffer from this bug anymore, so for now this bug is fixed.

Please add me to the CC list in the new bug.

  • Milestone 2.4 deleted
  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

Closing as invalid as this is no longer a feature of WordPress. Sounds like it may be plugin material. As fwenzel suggests proposing this experience be added back should happen in a new ticket -- including reference to this bug.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
