Description

I know that this isn't the rightest way to propose an idea, but i will try it.

I read this Open Letter (http://www.rashmisinha.com/2008/02/wordpress-social-network/) and I think that it is a good idea, adding a new field in user's profile where users can select their Birthday.

This is a good place to suggest ideas. Unfortunately I think this is something that's best done with a plugin if you require it. http://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/Userextra might be worth a look. You might also be interested in the efforts at http://buddypress.org/.
