.htaccess file gets messed up 500 error when saving a page

Description

I was editing a Page in the Wordpress admin panel and when I clicked Save, apparently the .htaccess file got messed up so my website gave a 500 internal error and I was unable to view my website or continue using the admin panel. I uploaded a recent good version of the .htaccess file to my website using FTP and everything was alright again. From the contents of the bad .htaccess file, it appears that Wordpress may have been trying to change the contents of that file and was unable to do so successfully because the file obviously isn't correct if you look at it. I have attached the bad .htaccess file with my ticket here.

  • Keywords dev-feedback added; htaccess file 500 error save page removed

I haven't seen this one occur since... probably something wp 2.3.x.

I think we should close it as fixed or invalid; or reassign it to the 2.0 branch.
